Christmas Card from Inge Look

The famous painter Inge Look sent me this lovely card. She does have a quaint and interesting way of spelling Vijay.

Christmas stamps 2014

This maxicard shows his year’s Finnish Christmas stamps, the artwork of Kristina Segercrantz, famous for several award-winning book illustrations. With these stamps executed with watercolor technique, Segercrantz wants to create a true Christmas fairy-tale atmosphere. In the blue-hued Christmas Eve Christmas-tariff stamp, an elf girl enjoys the enchanting atmosphere with a Christmas reindeer in candlelight. In the other Christmas stamp, the orange-hued Christmas Morning 1st-class stamp, an elf rings a large Christmas bell, feet off the ground.

The graphic design of the Christmas stamps comes from Olavi Hankimo.

Finnish Christmas Maxicards Spread the Holiday Spirit in new ways

On Monday, November 5, Posti issued Christmas stamps with two seasonal themes: Christmas tree and stable lantern. The maxicards shown have these two stamps.

The Christmas Tree stamp comes in a triangular sheet that doubles as an impressive Christmas decoration. Thanks to its special fold, the 20-stamp sheet stands upright like a miniature Christmas tree. Use it to get your desk in the holiday spirit – and to remind you to send your holiday greetings!  

The Stable Lantern stamp creates the peaceful mood of expectation that is the heart of the Christmas season. 

Nina Rintala designed the 2012 Christmas stamp. Nina is a graphic artist from Turku who has previously designed stamps for Itella, including the Church Sleigh Christmas stamp, which was recognized as the most beautiful stamp of 2002. In 2008, Rintala designed the world’s first transparent stamp, Frosty Night, for Itella.

Christmas Stamps 2011

These three lovely maxi cards with the pretty Christmas 2011 stamps issued on 7.11.2011 were given to me by Ella.

The card on the top left has a stamp that portrays that The night is falling in the little town in the winter time. Just some lights in the attic rooms. The atmosphere is very traditional, enacted in modern way.
The second stamp is about The cheerful little boy elf has two lambs in the lap. The hat made of felt and the boots too; how about the beard?
The new stamp for the Christmas greetings is designed by Kaarina Toivanen.
Let the straw mobile swing! The girl elf likes to swing on the straw mobile, laughing and enjoying. A lovely Christmas-red stamp for cards and letters!
